seek和seek for的区别
最大的区别就是：
seek一般用于抽象意义，在表示渴望得到某一具体的东西时，常接for或者after。
seek可以用作及物动词，也可以用作不及物动词，此时seek后面接宾语时，接介词for或者after(意思相同)。例如：
Most men
seek
wealth; all men seek happiness.
（抽象意义）
大多数人寻求财富；每个人都追求幸福。
We are
seeking for
information.
（具体事物）
我们在寻找资料。
He is going to
seek for
a new house. （具体事物）

seeking the best寻找最好的，the前需要加 for么
楼上有些答复是误导的。
seek是及物动词，后面当然不能加for，只能写成seeking the best。
如果改成名词，则一定要加for：in his search for the best。
在这个词的用法上，国内至少有一半的大学英语专业学生乃至三分之一的大学英语老师都是弄错的。
seek 和 seek for 有什么区别？
一般情况下不用seek for，因为这不是词组。除非是这种情况：They are seeking compensation/damages [=they are trying to get money] for their loss. 在这句中for their loss是一个短语，不是什么seek for。

seek for，look for，find，serach有什么区别
seek 一般用于抽象意义,有时也表示渴望得到某一具体的东西,是比较正式的书面用法.可构成seek for,seek after等短语,作“寻找,设法得到”等解.其后可接动词不定式,此时表示“试图,企图”.如：
They seek information from various sources.他们从各种来源收集信息.
look for 强调找的过程.如：
He is looking for his dictionary bought yesterday.他在找昨天买的那本词典.
find“找到”强调找到这个结果；look for“寻找”强调动作，search意思一样
如："If you find any mistake, please correct it."
